The Scythians were ancient nomadic pastoralists.

A gold object excavated from the Scythian burial mound Arzhan-2 is displayed at the national museum in Kyzyl July 20, 2010. A joint Russian-German archaeological expedition discovered more than 20 kg of gold artefacts in the undisturbed barrow, a royal necropolis of the Scythians, in the Valley of Tsars in 2001.
